Breaking | N3 closed after freak crash

Johannesburg - Paramedics and traffic authorities have closed the N3 near the Gillooly's Interchange, after an accident at approximately 1PM. 

Reports have not been confirmed, but it's believed a truck and a bakkie collided, sending the bakkie across the center median and onto the oncoming lane.

Several traffic apps have cited a 30-60 minute delay on the freeway and have recommended that motorists divert.

Cosatu expresses support for Didiza to be Tshwane mayor

Johannesburg - The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) has reiterated its support for the ANC and their selection of Tshwane mayoral candidate Thoko Didiza for the upcoming local elections.

At a press conference in Braamfontein this morning, Cosatu provincial chairperson Amos Monyela told journalists the decision on mayoral candidates for the ANC rests with the ANC.

Violent protests broke out in parts of Attridgeville on Monday after Didiza was named as the party's candidate. The incumbent is Kgosientso “Sputla” Ramokgopa.

Safety for Diepsloot’s cyclists just got better

Johannesburg - The Diepsloot Cycle Group (DCG) has received a donation of safety equipment to the value of an estimated R15,000.

The group is made up of some 200 riders who choose to cycle to work instead of using expensive public transport. There are some in the group who cycle more than 50 kilometres a day and almost all of them are employed through piece-meal jobs.

Johannesburg - Chelsea Liu has hit back hard at South African fashion designer Gavin Rajah after he responded to claims of copyright infringement and alleged breach of contract by Ms. Liu this week. 

In a media statement issued on Wednesday afternoon, Ms. Liu and her husband Marc Janke said they would be considering re-filing their charges against Mr. Rajah.
