Bic apologises for Woman's Day ad
Johannesburg - Bic South Africa has apologised to the country after it was lambasted for a sexist Woman's Day advert it posted this past weekend.
The stationary outlet originally posted a picture with the words "Look like a girl, act like a lady, think like a man, work like a boss" alongside an image of a corporate looking African female. It also hashtagged the image "HappyWoman'sDay".
This afternoon, the company took to its Facebook page with a post that read: "Let’s start out by saying we’re incredibly sorry for offending everybody - that was never our intention, but we completely understand where we’ve gone wrong." The post continued:
"This post should never have gone out. The feedback you have given us will help us ensure that something like this will never happen again, and we appreciate that."
Meanwhile, several people took to social networks with "corrected" versions of the Bic advert that was originally posted.
Below, is one of the variations posted -- the original author is not known. If you have more, send them to Newsful-Useful News Now. with the hashtag #BicSAcorrections.
